I am opposed to the proposal…

I am opposed to the proposal to remove portions of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park including the removal of all of Beach Areas 1, 2, New Wasaga and Allenwood Beach.

I am opposed to the proposed sale of Crown-owned lands within Beach Areas 1, 2, New Wasaga and Allenwood Beach to the Town of Wasaga Beach.

Crown lands are precious. They are owned by all of us. Witness the debacle in the United States where much more land is held privately.

I understand that the proposal is to transfer ownership to another public entity...the Town of Wasaga Beach. Similar municipal bodies have shown that they are not able to give absolute priority to the endangered species which inhabit the beach. Some municipalities have actively destroyed endangered species habitat on the beach.

The lands must remain as is, regulated under the Provincial Parks Act and managed as such. There are already excessive tourism opportunities on Wasaga Beach...We must priorize expanding the piping plover habitat.
