It is outrageous that the Ontario government thinks it is suitable to take away Provincial Park lands and turn it into resorts.
These lands are vital in providing access to nature; something that is becoming increasingly harder to come by. Parks like this are already full during peak season, removing land will cause these areas to become even more over-crowded.
Additionally, as cost of living becomes less affordable for most, being able to access nature and overnight experiences makes it even more vital that we have as much Provincial Park space as possible. It should not be used in a way that only serves the wealthy.
My last thought on this is that as temperatures continue to increase due to climate change, public access to beaches is imperative in order to stay cool while minimizing carbon footprints.
The continued activities of this provincial government, taking lands used by the public and handing them over to private developers that in turn create areas that only are available to those with existing wealth, is appalling to say the least. The government is in service to ALL the people, it is not there to further enrich the wealthy elites of this province and elsewhere.
