While I can appreciate the perceived economic advantage of this proposal I recognize that it comes at the expense of conservation lands that are beginning to welcome back rare birds and offer homes to a variety of animals. As I sit writing this I am listening to updates on the forest fires in Kawartha Lakes. As a population we are doing a poor job of protecting our environment. In addition, as our population continues to grow I believe we have a responsibility to continue to provide natural settings where we can connect with nature and appreciate the calm and peace such an environment provides. Moving forward with this proposal is shortsighted and potentially dangerous to our well-being.
