I strongly oppose this proposal. Ontario needs a science-based management plan that actively reduces threats to Piping Plovers and protects their habitat all year long. That means limiting mechanical raking so the habitat stays intact, prohibiting dune alteration, and safeguarding nests with fenced buffer zones and natural predator control.

We also need dedicated funding to protect and conserve Piping Plovers, their nests, and the fragile ecosystems they depend on. Organizations like Birds Canada and Ontario Parks should be leading the management and monitoring of this sensitive area.

Without biodiversity, there is no beach—especially when it comes to our rare and irreplaceable relict dune system. Let’s prioritize protecting the Piping Plover
