What
infrastructure should be prioritized to make cycling in Ontario safer and more convenient to support commuter cycling between residential communities, major transit stations, employment areas and other destinations travelled to on a frequent basis?

1.
The Hanlon Expressway (Hwy 6) /Wellington
Road (Hwy 24) overpass built by the

province has isolated the west
side of the city from the rest of Guelph
It has also isolated the natural environment connection along the river

The Province should fund to build a cycling/pedestrian
trail under the Hanlon Expressway

to connect the two sides of
the city. The provincial lands by the Expressway prevent the continuation of a pedestrian/cycling trail that would offer a very attractive connection for commuters or for those seeking a more active lifestyle .

local cycling infrastructure
2. The province could help fund cycling walking infrastructure downtown Guelph at a major intersection of Wellington st and Mcdonnell st. Existing and plannned trail connections that connect to most of the rest of the city trails and a major transit hub reach this point and have to compete with busy traffic .A much needed bridge underpass would help solve this problem as well as an overpass to connect with the transit hub. These improvements would also attract even more intensification of the downtown as it would offer direct and safer connections without the use of a car.
