Bill 60 is a step in the wrong direction and will undermine important community infrastructure and it will reduce mobility and quality of life in the City of Toronto for so many of its residents.

The province does not know the residents of cities, their concerns, interests or ways they enjoy their communities. Cities must maintain their local authority and decision-making from their engagements with citizens and supported by evidence.

The case that struck down the removal of bike lanes from Bill 212, highlighted that increasing traffic lanes only brings more cars and results in more traffic congestion. Every person on a bike takes up less space, have no carbon emissions and is a healthy citizen able to contribute to society. Bike lanes do not cause congestion -- limited investments in public transit, bike lanes, and other means of being mobile put everyone in cars, stuck in traffic. Bill 60 undermines our climate goals and our public health.

As a resident of Toronto, I use my bike to get everywhere in the city - to work, friends and families' houses, local businesses, local art and cultural events, everything. I love being on the road with other cyclists, on the streets in my local community, enjoying local parks and patios, making all of these less accessible as we lose access to our streets as a community will undermine our quality of life. It's not worth it.
