Studies from all over the world have proven that bike lanes reduce congestion. The ministry has to stop pretending that bicycles are only used for leisure. They are used to commute to work, run errands, deliver food. If you replace every person using a bicycle as transportation with a car, traffic congestion will be catastrophic, and you know that. This bill is not about modern transportation at all. It is about holding on to outdated city planning despite all evidence that doing so increases congestion. Modern transportation is dedicated and separated lanes for buses, cyclists and pedestrians.

Restricting cycling infrastructure willfully, and intentionally will create dangerous situations for cyclists and pedestrians. This is unconscionable for a government to propose.

I oppose Bill 60 and would never support a government who would enact such an egregious overreach into municipal governance.
