I cycle, I drive, and I work as a postal worker in the downtown area (more driving). There is no dedicated cycling infrastructure between my house and my postal depot, and every month (normally every week), at least one person comes dangerously close to hitting me with their car on my 3km commute to work. Why would anyone choose to cycle in conditions like that? I often question my own sanity. In order to get people out of cars and onto bikes, we need infrastructure.

This bill 60 is an awful idea and goes against the thinking & policies that the majority of modern forward thinking cities around the world are implementing. Dedicated bicycle & dedicated public transit lanes are essential in fighting gridlock as well as protecting the lives of the city's residents and visitors.

Yes, Toronto is currently terrible to drive it, but not catering for other forms of transport (bikes, public transport) is exactly the reason for this gridlock, everyone is incentivised to drive, so they do, and disincentivised to use other forms of transport and so they get in their cars and add to congestion. The backward thinking of Bill 60 is exactly the reason why Toronto suffers from such gridlock.

This is the fifth major city that I have lived in around the world, and it has the worst cycling / public transport infrastructure out of all of them, and also the worst traffic. Other cities have alleviated their traffic problems through pedestrian zones, dedicated public transport lanes & dedicated bike lanes. They help everyone out (yes, even car drivers too). There is no reason Toronto cannot be a world leader, and not have to resort back to the backwards thinking of bill 60.
