Everything this bill purports to accomplish, it will do the opposite.
It will worsen traffic congestion due to induced demand. According to the provincial government’s own experts, bike lanes are not a cause of gridlock.
Removing and preventing bike lanes is empirically proven to increase serious injuries and deaths from cars hitting cyclists and pedestrians.
Increasing the number of cars on the road will worsen air pollution. Pollution caused by cars is a known carcinogen.
This bill will only serve to accomplish getting more people sick, injured, and killed.
