Let me get this straight...
We want to improve mobility, we want people to spend less time in traffic, we want to prevent deaths and injuries on our roads. However, we will:
- Remove all speed cameras
- Prevent road diets and traffic calming measures
- Practically forbid all new bike lanes, even if the locals want them
Instead, we'll continue with 4-8 lane "streets" in our province which are a nightmare to maintain because they cost so much due to so much asphalt needed for their paving, and people are still stuck in them. We will also use "blinking lights" near schools to supposedly prevent people from speeding. Like that has ever worked.
These are not measures based on facts. These measures are populist measures, concocted in a way to lie to people who are stuck in traffic that things are going to get better. They will not. The entire world outside of this continent has figured this out: They are building more transit and allowing people who want to walk or bike, to, well, walk or bike. In fact, we've figured it out, too! We have all the data, all the stats and all the testimonies from experts on what works vs what doesn't.
But we don't listen to experts here. Instead, we have Doug Ford and Prabmeet Sarkaria who will continue this charade and be the very reason why people will continue to get killed or maimed in Ontario.
