You absolutely cannot let this proposed change pass. I understand that differing policies and structures may make applications difficult for developers, but how does this solution fix the problem when you force conservation authorities to drive from Cornwall to Kingston on a regular basis to oversee their entire region. The delineation between these conservation authority districts itself makes no sense other than to amalgamate as many together as possible, but what does the thunder bay region have in common with Collingwood? And why not include Sault ste. Marie in that conservation authority instead of including it with Sudbury and a bunch of other isolated communities? It looks like someone got drunk and played pin the tail on the donkey with the map of Ontario.

The old structure separated conservation authorities based on watershed, a practice going back to the 1920s where science supported policy and we deemed that individual organizations should make decisions based on how possible downsides can be transported across the landscape by water. This new system does nothing except make conservation authorities less effective and leaves poor construction practices unchecked.
