Removing conservation authorities can/will introduce several concerns and risks. Cutting the authorities down to only seven does not provide adequate representation or coverage for certain areas of Ontario, especially those in northern and rural Ontario. Taking away these crucial groups introduces higher flood risks and makes it harder to efficiently monitor those areas where they were removed. This can bring major risks to human health, infrastructure stability, and ecosystem management. These risks are not worth it to supposedly speed up housing. On top of this, it is unclear how exactly merging Ontario's conservation authorities down to an inadequate seven will accelerate housing developments. Conservation authorities work with and around natural hazards to maintain environmental health and ensure it is safe for people to be there. Removing most of the authorities will cause there to be many gaps of knowledge in various areas, posing higher risks to the people and ecosystems of the area.

By writing this comment I want to emphasize the importance of what the conservation authorities do for Ontario and the people within. As a citizen of Ontario, it is crucial for me to indicate how this is important to people like me and how this act will negatively impact us. Kindly reconsider the decision to cut down the conservation authorities, as we need them to ensure our safety and health.
