I’m not sure why so many conservation authorities need to be merged together. It hardly makes sense to me to eliminate hyper local institutions and create larger ones that will clearly miss important local caveats for nature conservation that required a larger number of authorities in the first place. We know certain areas are prone to flooding, for instance, and I fail to see how increasing the area that authorities are responsible for will help plan for and allocate resources toward issues such as flooding. This seems like an exercise to “save money” in the short term at the expense of the long term health of our environment.
