This proposal makes very little sense in terms of the programs and services each Conservation Authority offers. This change will not make permitting more efficient, if anything it will increase cost and time. It has taken years to build sufficient, local knowledge on watersheds to properly and safely deliver these services to the region's inhabitants. Many Conservation Authorities have already streamlined their process and are completing as many permits as possible.

This is an unnecessary, drastic change that does not need to happen. Adding another layer with the new agency will only add to overhead costs, wasting tax payers dollars. Perhaps the government should be clear on how much this is going to cost, and where that money is coming from? The rebranding ALONE will come at a substantial cost. There is a long list of reasons NOT to go through with this change, and very little supporting the reasoning. There is no evidence to support the claims that amalgamating will benefit any area. It will put more pressure on the municipalities that are already struggling from lack of government support. Ford should be worried less about lining his pockets with his developer buddies and should focus more on delivering the services that the people need, including public health care, education, and stable jobs, but everyone knows he doesn't care about that. Why would he?

Is anyone even reading this? Does anyone care that the government can get away with this? Why does the environment have to suffer? There are much more serious problems to address rather than disrupting stable industries that work hard to get by with very little government support. Leave the Conversation Authorities alone and let them continue delivering services to the public.
