To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express grave concerns regarding the consolidation of CAs from 36 to 7. There is zero evidence that this action will achieve it's desired outcomes, such as being more responsive to community needs due to a more standardised structure being proposed. Typically the opposite occurs and the more centralised approach leads to a reduction in local knowledge being utilised and the negative consequences of this being borne by the communities. For example, in Grey Highlands, a municipality deemed to small to have a voice at any proposed CA table will have zero representation. This type of proposal is designed to shut out local knowledge and voices, a far cry from the proposed goals. There are so many points similar to this that highlight the actual intended goals of this proposal such as making it easier to remove lands from CA oversight and make it available to developers etc. I am not going to go through each point as I am sure many others will do a fantastic job of that, including my own municipality and CA, which are both against this proposal, for very good reason.
The Ford government is not an honest actor when it comes to the environment and any proposed 'management' of it and this Bill is another prime example. I am therefore in vehement opposition to any consolidation of CAs. The CAs play a critical role in our communities and should continue to do so in a localised manner.
Hands off our CAs!
