My comment is based on the apparent disregard for our environment. It seems that money is still the determining factor on how we care for our world. Residents of Chatham are fighting to preserve Paxton's Bush. When this municipality has so little tree cover in the first place how can they decide to eliminate more? (Money for the developer)
Today (Oct.6) in Kolontar, Hungary a reservoir wall ruptured spilling slurry from a nearby aluminum factory. Three villages were inundated with more than a million cubic metres of poisonous chemical sludge. The environmental impact on the land as well as the people has not been assessed as yet but how can they recover from such a disaster. (Cheap containment methods of harmful chemical waste)
This past summer there was a catastrophic oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. The environmental impact of this disaster will go on for years affecting both wildlife and humans as well. (Shortcuts taken by drilling companies)
I believe as protectors of our earth we must become more vigilant in caring for and preserving our natural places. Places like Rondeau need to become pure refuges for animals as well as places of comfort and solitude for humans.
Cottages are not found in any other provincial park and they should not be found in Rondeau's fragile space.
