Your proposal for lease extension described in your letter to me of October 4 amounts to a case of age discrimination. If I were 40 years old, and agreed to your proposal, I might stand a chance of lasting until 2038. However, since I am 67, there is only a slim chance that I will last until 95. It is astounding that in this day and age the Government of Ontario and its agents would discriminate in this way.
Not only is this proposal discriminatory, but it also by retroactively freezing the ownership as of September 1, 2010 you have dramatically impacted the value of my cottage and reneged on the existing agreement.
The intent of the proposal by the government might be to continue having cottages in the park until 2038, but the expression of this intent through the conditions added has the opposite effect. It amounts to more of the continued harassment of cottagers that Parks Ontario has waged for years. They do not seem to be able to work with the cottagers.
