This bill is a regression for the province. Not only have studies shown that Cap and Trade was effective in reducing emissions and promoting environmentally sustainable projects, but it will reduce Ontario's competitiveness in the trillion dollar global industry of environmental solutions. I know that this cancellation will lead to increased emissions due to lower pecuniary penalties to industry while also damaging the future of Ontario's economy. Further, I have no faith that this government will develop a better plan in the necessary timeline to reduce the impact of climate change on our planet.
