1. The Ontario government must not terminate the current cap and trade system without having a credible carbon tax system ready to replace it.
2. The Ontario government must not cancel emissions reduction programs related to cap and trade tax already collected
3. The Ontario government must implement a carbon tax system that meets or exceeds planned Federal requirements.
4. Ontario must be at the forefront of emissions reduction programs to develop solutions and jobs in this new industry; as opposed to allowing other jurisdictions take the lead, the jobs, and the economic benefit.
5. The Ontario government must encourage environmental efficiency with a carbon tax system that returns revenues back to Ontarians through a reduction in other provincial taxes and by emissions reduction programs. The carbon tax system should not increase the tax burden on Ontarians by more than an agreed amount.
6. It is right and proper that a carbon tax is levied, and emission reduction programs implemented, so that Ontario contributes its part to Canada meeting commitments made in the Paris climate agreement.
7. The Ontario government must not legally challenge the rollout of the Federal carbon tax system.
8. The Ontario (and Canadian) government must implement tariffs on all imported goods that are produced in areas that do not have a minimum standard of carbon pricing.
