I simply want to register…

I simply want to register two concerns.
One) the mitigation of carbon in our atmosphere is a urgent mandate for government - human life depends on the government’s actions in the next decade. And as was made clear by voters in the most recent federal election, this is a priority for Canadians. Governments of every level need to cooperate and not bring in partisan politics. Human life is at stake.
Two) Ontario needs to be at the forefront of new and innovative industries and not sit on our hands waiting for the US or Chinese to develop products. Removing government stimulus for research and development is an error. Removing consumer-facing incentives to be more energy efficient is an error. If not a fee on polluters then some other method needs to be found. We do not have time to wait for market-only mechanisms to develop the new energy-saving and energy-producing technologies.

Overall, the cancellation of the cap and trade program without a specific, vetted replacement policy in place is highly irresponsible and will simply open up the province to lawsuits.
