We must phase nuclear energy out, as it can never be made safe enough. Time to take bigger steps toward "green", with people ownership. In the meantime we need to make nuclear plants as safe as possible. IMPORTANT. [Original Comment ID: 210263]

I think the risks posed by Nuclear plants overruns the advantages. As a resident of Ontario I'm concerned with something going wrong and a possible accident at the plant, that could turn our beautiful region into a Chernobyl like disaster. Lire davantage

Nuclear energy is devastating and harmful. The radiation causes cancer which it shouldn't. It is also non-renewable, and we should be looking for renewable options for our future. [Original Comment ID: 210270]

In the long run -- or even medium term -- it is obvious that a serious emergency at Pickering or Darlington cannot be managed safely. The inevitable outcome would likely cost thousands of lives (sooner or later) and contaminate substantial areas with radiation for decades or more. Lire davantage

I can't believe this is even being considered! Does no one care it's been years and the Fukushima reactor is STILL leaking into the ocean? Why put ourselves at further risk? Lire davantage

If you have a conscience, please us it to be responsible about nuclear power. After Fukishima, there is no reason for Canada to experience the same type of accidents. [Original Comment ID: 210294]

I urge you to ramp up Ontario's Nuclear Emergency Plans to be able to cope with a Fukushima level nuclear accident here in our province. The cost of failing to do so is too high, given the proximity of most of Ontario's nuclear reactors to large population centres. Preparedness is the key. Lire davantage

Nuclear power is too dangerous a source of power. If you insist on using it, extreme precautions must be put in place to protect the environment and life that surround this unsafe power. Lire davantage

I urge the Minister to develop a long-term plan to phase out nuclear energy and replace it with clean, safe, renewable energy and conservation. Nuclear plants are extremely expensive to build, upgrade, maintain, contain and decommission. Lire davantage
