We need more environmental protection laws. I want a better, healthier Ontario for my school age son and his future children. A future with less CO2 emissions, less smog, less pollution of our great lakes and a healthier planet.

Cancelling the cap and trade program because it was a Liberal plan is the worst kind of political damage. Cancelling the cap and trade program with nothing to replace it is the worst kind of environmental damage.

Cancelling a program that was a step towards allowing down climate change without having a replacement plan ready to go is reckless and unconscionable. Money isn't god. At some point we need to stop worshipping it.
Please accept the following as my official comments on Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018, posted for consultation as ERO 013-3738. I am writing because climate change has happened, is happening, and will continue to happen, and we need to act now.

Summary
Bill 4 fails to match the urgency of the climate crisis and represents a major step backward in the fight against climate change.
It is unfair and unreasonable to eliminate the province’s only climate plan without being transparent with the public about the plan to replace it.

The UN has recently released a report saying that we have 12 years (or less) to fix our ways and try to reduce the effects of climate change, and the Nobel Prize was recently awarded to hardworking scientists that have PROVEN that cap and trade is one of the most effective ways governments can help

The consultation process for Bill 4 was insufficient in the 4 following ways:
1) It ignores the urgency of climate change
2) It closes Ontario for business to the clean economy
3) It gives little detail about a replacement plan
4) It does not contain binding emissions targets

I am very disappointed with the simplistic approach the Provincial Government is taking to climate change. The time for talk is drawing to a close, if it hasn't passed already, and what we got was a dismantling of a program that was already in place and a vague promise of more talk.

I listened to the previous Minister of the Environment carefully explain Cap and Trade and I found the arguments convincing. A recent report (by an author with conservative credentials) said that a carbon tax will put money in our pockets and more money in the pockets of the poor.

Climate change is very real. If cap and trade is not the way, you need something much better. You are not really for the people if there is not something better. Increasing climate disasters will effect the little guy way more than the rich like you.
