I am submitting a comment regarding the change to a regulation for hunting the Double Crested Cormorant. (The Double-crested Cormorant is marked for death under the Government of Ontario's proposal to open a hunting season for this ecologically significant Great Lakes species. Lire davantage

I do not approve of the proposal to hunt these cormorants. Their numbers have finally risen, thanks to our efforts and tax dollars and to start a hunt to decimate them makes no sense at all. Thank you.

The proposal to literally eradicate the Double Crested Cormorant is a horrifying and ill conceived idea. Because the birds are “destroying small islands and eating fish that people feel are theirs.” Lire davantage

Good idea and an effective way to reduce these pests. I would make the season the same as ducks in order to calm down the bird watchers and tree huggers who will cry about mother cormorants being shot while they have young. Lire davantage

I have first hand witnessed the decimation of fish populations due to comorants. They do nothing but destroy shoreline habitat and vegetation. I am in total agreeance with the proposed law and wish it would have come long ago. I hope it's not too late for the fish populations they have destroyed.

There should most definitely be an open hunting season on these menacing birds. They destroy many habitats including land, islands, waterways, and baitfish. Lire davantage

I would ask the Government to rethink this proposal, as the science around this proposal deems it to have a deeply negative effect to the Ontario Cormorant population. The Cormorant population may be driven to extinction in Ontario. Lire davantage

Clearly you are over fishing, like many, for humans its called gluttony. Hunting Cormorants is right out hateful and uneducated. What is wrong with CANADIAN GOVERNMENT? No ethics, no morals, no education, no standards. Lire davantage

I are strongly opposed to the proposal to establish a hunting season for Double-crested Cormorants in Ontario. It is an unscientific slaughter reflecting ignorance and slaughter of an entire species - genocide. Lire davantage

The Government’s proposal would have terrible consequences to wildlife and natural ecosystems in Ontario, not to mention the wholesale, uncontrolled, impossible to monitor, slaughter of cormorants. Lire davantage

Hunting has long proven to weaken the genetics of animal population, leave orphans, extirpate, and cause extinction. Birds are fragile and should be protected. Do not allow this hunt to happen.

I am totally opposed to allowing the hunting of cormorants. This is an important and valuable bird that poses no threat to humans. Hunting this bird will make it vulnerable and perhaps lead to its extinction. There is no valid reason to allow hunting of the cormorant. Lire davantage

I hope the right choice is made this time around. As a fish and wildlife technologist I have studied the devastating effects these birds can have on a ecosystem. Lire davantage

This cull is unnecessary , The Cormorants are part of the natural environment. More restrictions should be placed on development and habitat loss. The hunting of these birds will affect all the other water fowl in the area in a negative way.

I totally agree with this proposal. Over the past decade I have seen a huge explosion in the cormorant population resulting in an incredible decline in the perch population in Georgian Bay. The number of these birds in my area is huge. Lire davantage

Once again we are taking a human problem - human destruction and or reduction of wildlife habitat and proposing to destroy another species to fix our own problem - caused by us and not by the species we're proposing the kill. Lire davantage

I fully support this proposal. My family and I have fished the fishing islands of Lake Huron for 30 plus years and and over these years we have noticed a steady decline in baitfish populations not to mention the yellow perch populations as well. Lire davantage
