From everything I have read, there is no reason to open a bear hunting season. Sport hunters can get cameras and shoot bears that way. What you are proposing will upset the balance of nature in the name of a dying industry. Lire davantage

Compared to numbers prior to colonization, black bear numbers are in a dire state. I think it's important to consider a non-anthropocentric viewpoint on populations as they are constantly living in threatened situations as humans take up more and more land with industry and urbanization. I fully support the renewal of a spring bear hunt as proposed. If the population is able to sustain a spring hunt and the hunter surveys are analyzed properly I think it will be good for both the bears and the affected communities.

Bear numbers are too high and they compete with threatened and endangered species for habitat and for food. Responsible bear hunting will address this problem and help sustain healthy wildlife populations. Additional hunting discourages bear-human contact as bears will learn to avoid people.
