As a resident of a major city that has a significant problem with fatalities of cyclists, I do not think that the province should be interfering with a city's implementation of bike lanes. Lire davantage

Why are we allowing people to make decisions for a community based on the desires of those who don't live in that community? Why should we be making decisions for Toronto to make the lives of those who drive through Toronto easier? Decisions for the community should be made by that community. Lire davantage

The premise for this proposal is not helpful to the problem it seeks to eliminate. More lanes of traffic produce more congestion. Even if they did not, at face value this slows down already slow municipal government bodies by requiring an additional person to approve something. Lire davantage

This is a dangerous bill that will contribute to the deaths of more bikers in Toronto. This is not stopping gridlock because it promotes more people to drive. If we keep bike lanes, it promotes more people to BIKE. Which in turn reduces bike lanes. Lire davantage

Removing bike lanes will not alleviate traffic congestion; instead, it could exacerbate the problem. Bike lanes provide a safe and efficient alternative for commuting, reducing the number of cars on the road. Lire davantage

I am against this in every way, especially the environmental sections snuck in here. Creating a safe space for biking should be a priority to help decrease traffic. Adding to transit, building jobs near to housing also would go a great way to help.

This proposal is a terrible idea for so many reasons. Not only does it constitute gross government overreach but it won't even do anything to improve drive times. Lire davantage

This has to be the biggest overreach into municipal politics ever. also the stupidest idea ever. Lire davantage

This proposal is not supporting by any science. There is research done in many cities across the world, including New York, Paris, Vancouver, and Montreal, that shows bike lanes have reduced traffic congestion. Lire davantage

High-speed rail. No Brainer. Leave bike lanes alone and ditch the tunnel lunacy.

We need more, separate bike lanes, not less. More bikes, more walking, less cars. This legislation is bad for Canadians.

I am opposed to this. It is unethical to hide a proposal to reduce environmental regulations to build a highway inside a bill purported to be for something else.

At a time when inequality is on the rise throughout the province and nature's capacity to absorb greenhouse gases (GHGs) is rapidly diminishing (Oxford University Press, 2024), we must prioritize solutions that reduce traffic density and ensure affordable transportation for all. Lire davantage

This is an absurd waste of time and resources. The province shouldn't be getting involved in traffic management, and bike lanes are the clearest path after improved public transit towards reducing congestion. Disgusting policy proposal. Get rid of this trash.

This is an egregious overstep and is incredibly disappointing to see. Municipalities are able to make their own transport decisions without Provincial oversight. Lire davantage

Gridlock is caused by 905ers who choose to drive into Toronto instead of using GO transit. Toronto should not be sacrificing it's transit needs for the benefit of 905ers. Entice drivers to take transit, invest in more and reliable transit, and increase bike lanes instead of decreasing them.

As a voter who does not have a driver’s license, who rides their bike around the city - out through Etobicoke where I have worked with kids in Driftwood and Albion Heights, bike lanes save me time. They are faster and more direct than our transit system. They are safer than biking on various roads. Lire davantage

This proposal is a waste of taxpayer dollars and the time of our public officials. This will create unnecessary road construction further increasing gridlock exasperated by our notoriously slow construction. Lire davantage

This is an absolutely ridiculous proposal. First, it will force those who commute by bike to start taking their cars which will compound the issue. Those who don’t have access to a car will now bike in the street, endangering their lives and slowing down the traffic that cannot easily pass them. Lire davantage
