I commute to my job downtown every day by bike. The existing, and expanding, bike share network ensures I am safe and get home to my family. Lire davantage

This is an absurd proposal that flies in the face of all evidence, which clearly shows that bike lanes do not increase congestion. It should go without saying that cars increase congestion. Lire davantage

As a year-round bike commuter, I want to be able to ride with other riders safely to work. I am contributing less to climate change. I see more riders with protected bike lanes. I think municipalities can best manage traffic flow without requiring Ministry approval for bike lanes. Lire davantage

Evidence overwhelmingly shows that investing in bike lanes and public transit reduces gridlock, while investing in new roads creates more traffic. Reducing the number of vehicles on the road means that those who need to or choose to drive can do so.

As someone who regularly drives, walks and cycles around the city, it's clear that the proposed legislation will not reduce congestion on major roadways. For example, the transportation minister listed University Ave. Lire davantage

I don’t use bike lanes personally but I know people that do and they are very handy but are very dangerous. I think we need to make the bike lanes wider so people don’t get hurt as often

It's quite obvious that if you force more ppl to stop biking and start driving, you will have more gridlock. Lire davantage

This plan to block/remove bike lanes is ridiculous. 1. Cities have the responsibility to manage their local roads. Yes, cities are creations of the province but this responsibility has been given to them and should stay there. Lire davantage

Municipalities know best, they have data, on what solutions work best on their roads. Bicycles are also commuters, and reduce congestion as otherwise, most may be additional cars on the road. A multi-modal approach to congestion management is required, such as rail, public transit, etc. Lire davantage

This is another inane and nonsensical piece of legislation haphazardly put together by a government inundated by scandal and is a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Basically all data points to bike lanes reducing traffic as they allow people to safely use forms of transportation that aren't driving. Not just biking, but scooters, skateboards, or other forms of micromobility as well. Lire davantage

I am writing to express my strong opposition to Bill 212, specifically the framework that requires municipalities to seek provincial approval for new bike lanes that remove existing traffic lanes. This legislation is misguided from a safety, environmental, and traffic congestion perspective. Lire davantage

This is a terrible idea. Municipalities should be responsible for municipal decisions. This goes against the small government framework proposed by the conservative party. This will not reduce car traffic. This will increase car traffic as more people will have to use cars. Lire davantage

Bicycles are never the problem with gridlock. Too many cars is always the problem. The two main issues as I see it are: 1. Direct on street parking in front of businesses. (Short term to medium term car users park for convenience rather than walk 100m from a Green P, which are everywhere). Lire davantage

This is a truly horrible idea that will surely lead to: - increased traffic for cars - deaths for bikes - more pollution for EVERYONE. Please, please do not go ahead with this.

As an Ontario taxpayer who cycles using bike lanes to get across the city for work, socializing, groceries etc, I implore the city to increase bike lanes and public transit rather than removing bike lanes. Lire davantage
