The bill is based on false premise. The areas that the bloor-university-yonge bike network goes through has as much as 20% of work trips completed by bike. This doesn't include non-work bike trips for errands, medical appointments, and most crucially, children going to school. Lire davantage

I do not support the removal of bike lanes as they are safe place to ride. Without the protected space a motor vehicle can block safe passage. Lire davantage

Your people demand a more walkable, pedestrian friendly city. Your people actively and consistently use bike lanes. Your people say that massive roads are a hassle, are slow, are hardly even friendly enough for cars. Your people want to use the bike lanes. Your people want to use the sidewalk too. Lire davantage

Hello Mr Ford and Mr Sarkaria, I am deeply troubled by this proposed bill from your government. While I doubt that you will take any of these public comments seriously, I hope that maybe this will lead you to have a second thought on this proposal. Lire davantage

Please don't remove the bike lanes. As a cyclist but mainly a driver these days, I've actually found that traffic is better along Bloor St. This is a world-class city and Bloor is one of our main roads. Do it right. Keep the bike lanes.

Please do not remove the bike lanes. People have already been seriously injured and killed due to lack of protection for cyclists. This will decrease the benefits of cycling and using public transit which will push more people to drive.

I do not support this bill. Removing existing bike lanes is a waste of taxpayer dollars, makes streets less safe, and is bad for local small businesses.

Dear Doug Ford, Let me get this straight... you suddenly have the money to spend on ripping out bike lanes when, in the past, you have claimed that there wasn't enough money to properly pay nurses? Lire davantage

This is terrible legislation. Induced demand works both ways and this will only make congestion worse. Additionally, the province's climate goals are completely unachievable unless we reduce fossil fuel emissions. More cars is an anti-goal. Lire davantage

This is an absurd policy and an egregious waste of my tax dollars to result only in negative outcomes including increased traffic (those on bikes using taxis or cars when no longer safe to bike) and injury and death to cyclists. Some key points I'd like to offer: Lire davantage

I think this piece of legislation is a mistake. The name of "Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act" seems suspect to me as it only focuses on removing bike lanes "where the removal of a lane of traffic took place" only. Lire davantage

I am beyond disappointed. The proposed restrictions on future bike lanes and the removal of existing lanes will make traffic worse, commuting more expensive and ultimately people will die because of it. Lire davantage

Bike lanes increase bike ridership and remove cars from the road. By adding more bike lanes, bike ridership will go up and car ridership will go down. This is observable in any community in Toronto with a well established series of biking lanes. Lire davantage

Removing lanes on main roads to accommodate bicycles is a bad idea on so many levels. I fully support the proposed legislation to remove bicycle lanes where they make so little sense.

I live and work in downtown Toronto, and the Bloor, University and Yonge bike lanes are critical bike infrastructure for me to travel in the City. Those lanes mean my ability to travel in the City is often significantly faster than if I had taken transit or ordered a taxi to my destination. Lire davantage

Every person using a bicycle for transportation is one less car. Cycling for transportation necessarily means riding on main streets. Side streets are not adequate because in some parts of the City they are not direct routes and many of the businesses that cyclists visit are on main streets. Lire davantage

As an avid cyclist and a driver, I'm fully in support of Bill 212. Frustrating drivers with clogged roads does not make the roads safer for anyone. Increasing idling times of vehicles caught in traffic also increases green house gas emissions creating an environmental impact. Lire davantage

The cynic in me believes that this proposal to rip out bike lanes that I use every day, that allow me to get home safely to my children every day, that allow me to not become one more car adding to congestion, is just a distraction by the Ford government from his government’s failures and scandals.
