This is a blatant attack on the safety of road users not in cars. Every bit of expert research shows the extreme benefits of bike lanes. The province should not be allowed to interfere in the democratically supported infrastructure policies of cities. Bike lanes save lives. Lire davantage

Removing bike lanes from these major roads in Toronto is an incredible example of a government not acting for the people. I am so incredibly disappointed that this is even an issue we have to fight for, removing existing, functional, valuable bicycle lanes in a vibrant and dynamic city. Lire davantage

This so-called "Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act" will do exactly the opposite for commuters like myself and many others in the city of Toronto. Lire davantage

There is literally no basis or data-backed studies that justifies the removal of bike lanes. I do not even bike, but know that the only way to reduce congestion is to provide viable alternatives such as biking and transit. Lire davantage

This is a ridiculous plan, why can’t the province just fund public transit. Bike lanes get people out of cars and reduce gridlock, we’d be better off removing street parking from these busy downtown streets, bikes are not the issue.

The proposal states that it “Recognizes that accidents and lane closures can worsen traffic congestion and impact the quality of life of Ontarians.” While an accident might just be a cause of congestion to a driver, it can mean the death or long-term disability of a cyclist. Lire davantage

This is quite possibly the worst idea an Ontario government has had. This will be terrible for business, even worse for congestion, and diminish the quality of life for citizens. Lire davantage

Don't make it harder to make bike lanes. Whenever I'm on transit like a bus or I'm driving in the city, I'm also at my SLOWEST when there aren't bike lanes because the cyclists have NO CHOICE but to be further in the road and we can't safely pass them. Lire davantage

Why do you want to kill me and my children? Don't pass this terrible bill. P.S., riding a bike saves me time, especially with bike lanes. I'm sick of these 1984-style newspeak names for legislation

This is one of the least sound ideas I've seen this government propose - and that is saying something, because this government has put forward some very daft ideas. This plan will NOT reduce gridlock and instead will lead to an increase loss of life of cyclists and pedestrians. Lire davantage

This bill is a political game that will not improve traffic congestion and will get people killed. Yeah, we see it for what it is. Culture war nonsense devoid of anything empirical. Every conservative should be ashamed of this garbage, but of course conservatives have no shame. Lire davantage

I am beyond frustrated by this proposed legislation. Induced demand is an evidence based principal at play here - if we create more roads, more people will drive cars, and within a short period, there will be the same level, if not worse, gridlock. Lire davantage

Gridlock is due to over-reliance on cars. The more space for cars, the higher the usage of cars. Bike lanes encourage people to cycle rather than drive, or to avoid driving in such areas and opt for walking or public transit. Lire davantage

-For a party of small government, the Ford government is sure sticking its fingers in a lot of government. Why should municipalities ask for permission to build on their land? I thought you wanted less red tape, not more. Lire davantage

I dislike provincial meddling in municipal affairs. Locally elected governance know better than the province about what transportation needs are required for their community. Lire davantage

Bike lanes are critical to traffic flow . If you get out there and ride, you’ll see why. If you don’t understand what a well integrated cycling culture can do for transportation and health, visit the Netherlands for a week. You have to make cycling safe and convenient and the riders will come. Lire davantage

Every year they go add just one more lane to the 401 yet it gets slower. Removing bike lanes just means the bikes are going to use the entire lane. Or worse yet take a car and become more traffic. Lire davantage

More bike lanes!!! If you bike, it's safer. If you drive, it a) gets bikes out of your lane and b) gets other cars off the road and out of your way, since some of them will bike. Lire davantage
