This whole MZO business is a clear attempt at the circumvention of due process to the detriment of all Ontario citizens BUT an unfair advantage given to developers (Conservative party donors). This is a truly egregious mis use of power.

I am strongly opposed to the misuse of the MZO to rezone a piece of land. The local municipality should have say in how the land is zoned. The MZO is undemocratic. It takes power away from the citizens and puts it firmly in the hands of one person - the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Read more

As a resident of Stratford, ON, I wish to register my objection to MZOs generally and the MZO recently used in Stratford. Simply put, it is an undemocratic tool. I can understand it’s use in extreme circumstances when the common good is at stake but that would be rarely and in the extreme. Read more

I am absolutely appalled by the high number of MZOs that have been issued over the last year or so. MZOs are by their very nature anti-democratic, so they should be used only in extreme circumstances. Read more
