This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Please don’t waste any more of municipalities time and money by flip flopping your silly policy proposals. You’re removing common sense municipal autonomy.

How are we the only developed nation contemplating removing bike lanes citing no evidence that they benefit. They save lives. Those lives are constituents. We prioritize parking spaces more than we do travel lanes for cars or bikes. When will Ontario see what bigger and older cities already have. Read more

I am outraged as a cyclist and a Kitchener taxpayer that public money will be spent to remove bike lanes in Toronto. Why is a “small government” party modelling in municipal politics? This is outrageous. Read more

This is a terrible idea. Municipalities have a better understanding of what their communities need; the province does not. Please see this CBC article for reference https://www.cbc.ca/news/science/bike-lanes-impacts-1.7358319 Read more

This is a terrible waste of time and resources. What happened to reducing governmental red tape? All municipal concerns should stay municipal, this government has forgotten it's mandate.

municipalities should be able to make decisions about bike lanes without provincial approval. municipal politicians and policymakers are most informed about the needs of their local constituents.

There are so many things wrong with this bill. Cities across the world are investing in bike and transit infrastructure because research shows that the only way to reduce traffic congestion is less cars on the road. Read more

Since moving back to Toronto from Hamilton in 2005, I have happily seen bicycle infrastructure grow from almost nothing, to the healthy and growing, network we now enjoy. Read more

I do not believe that the province should be interfering in municipal level road management. Every municipality has unique traffic characteristics that are best known by that municipality. Additionally, the province continues to create barriers to climate change reduction plans. Read more

I live and work in downtown Toronto. I own a car, so am intimately familiar with the traffic issues. I also frequently use the bicycles provided by Toronto Bike Share as this often allows for a quicker trip to parts of the city. Read more

I am shocked that my government cares so much more about the convenience of drivers than the safety of vulnerable road users. If this bill becomes law, people will die. Let's solve congestion by providing more alternatives to driving.

I am writing to express my strong opposition to this shortsighted idea that would grant the province the authority to stop municipalities from constructing essential bike lanes. Read more
