Unjust. Act now think later should not be the driving force in development. Also giving the province the authority to class some species as they like? Not okay. Lastly, a habitat is more than just where a species lives at the current moment. Non-human animals are not like humans. Read more

I have SIGNIFICANT concerns about this proposed legislation and strongly urge the government to reject the proposal. I cannot highlight enough how disturbing this proposal is and how damaging this legislation will be for species at risk - on-par with the regressive Greenbelt proposal scandal. Read more

I DO NOT support these changes on any level. I do not think this is something the people of Ontario asked for, and you don't have the mandate for this. This will cause irreversible damage that could last for generations, or in some cases, forever. Read more

I’d like the comment that I disagree with the approach to ignore indigenous rights by beginning work prior to permission being given. That’s not even to mention doing environmental harm prior to understanding what that harm would be. Read more

I think it is a very slippery slope when we start removing environmental protections in order to make it easier for developers to start projects. They have shown that profit is the driving force. Without regulations and oversight developers will not prioritize the environment.

I strongly oppose this new legislation, which not only dismantles essential protections for endangered wildlife and ecosystems, but also disregards the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous communities. This bill represents a profound failure of responsible governance. Read more

This is an extremely short-sighted and irresponsible decision. If we disregard the natural resources and spaces we have we will create drinking water problems, erosion, flooding, and lose our ability to produce our own agriculture. Read more

As a biologist and as someone who has worked on innumerable construction sites, I believe that this is a terrible idea. You are entrusting the care of species into the hands of people that are negatively impacted by it. Read more

At a time when our southern neighbours are bent on tearing everything down - destroying their land and pillaging it for 'resources', we should be focused on preserving. The conservation and protection of species is complicated for a good reason, because ecosystems are complicated. Read more

As written, this new act appears to loosen the rules around protecting our endangered species in an alarming way. "The government would also have discretion to remove protected species from the list." Read more
