Redefining habitat to mean a nest and immediate surrounding area doesn't make any sense. Animals use large areas of land in order to survive, they don't just live in a nest. Is there evidence that the endangered species act is slowing down infrastructure development in Ontario? Read more

I oppose Bill 5. It guts protections, ignores science, and tramples Indigenous rights. Scrap it. Scrutinize corruption at all levels, especially when developers are personal friends of political actors. Read more

The wording that troubles me the most of this proposal is “at the discretion of the government “. Our relationship with nature is already so fragile and without proper assessments in place we are endangering things even more. Things that are meant to be done well take time and expertise. Read more

As someone working in ecology and ecosystem management, this bill is extremely concerning. Environmental protections are already weak in Ontario and across the country and this bill would further weaken them. Read more

This proposal is an egregious attempt to remove necessary protections for endangered and at-risk species. Furthermore, this removes transparency requirements for developers when they are trying to construct on taxpayer owned lands within Ontario. Read more

Removing the Endangered Species Act and changing it to give Builders more leeway to build on our VERY IMPORTANT GREEN SPACES, is anything but okay! This is an outrageous suggestion by Doug Ford. Read more

Do not elimate or change the existing conservation act. You're already destroying the planet for my future, nothing has been done to change the climate CRISIS the WORLD is currently experiencing. Doug Ford wanted the Greenbelt, now you want more. Read more

First it's let's get rid of the greenbelt, and now it's let's make it easier to bulldoze animal habitats so that us humans can expand? This seems so backwards. We are the only species who doesn't live in harmony with other species; can we PLEASE come up with a better solution? Read more

Bird conservation is crucial because birds play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems—they help control pests, pollinate plants, and spread seeds. Protecting birds also means preserving the habitats they rely on, which benefits countless other species, including humans. Read more

I am completely against this proposal and the significant negative impacts it will have on our wildlife and environment. This proposal highlights the Ford government's willingness to destroy our fragile ecosystem in service to the profits of corporations.
