Building without a proper environmental assessment leads to habitat loss and potential wildlife conflicts. This bill removes many of these protections.

I don’t know whose definition of smart is being used here! It’s certainly not smart to build on lands where there’s endangered species. It’s certainly not smart to put our environmental well-being on the line. It’s certainly not smart to agree with this legislation. Read more

This may be slightly expanding the scope of the bill, however, a building code amendment to allow single-stairs buildings similar to the British Columbia amendment from August 2024, would significantly increase the ability to build infill apartment buildings to address the "missing middle" problem. Destroying habitat for animals is not smart building. And stuffing children in hot portables does not produce smart children. Please instead allow schools and homes to be built in an environmentally friendly way.
