I am most concerned that the 42 aquatic species and migratory bird species will no longer be protected, and I feel that the rationale that the Species at Risk Act, the Fisheries Act, and the Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994 still apply to them and will protect them is not a strong reason.

I oppose the amendments proposed in Bill 5 as they will weaken the protections of our endangered species. We should be putting more effort into maintaining our environmental diversity, not fast-tracking their demise.
We need to protect ALL endangered species. Not pick and choose. Leading a species to extinction with this bill will be a moral failing on everyone who voted for it.
We shouldn’t have to comprise endangered species and biodiversity in Ontario in order to build more homes that will likely not be affordable to everyday people or those who desperately need housing.
Shame on you all for your disrespect for those who have come before you and the generations to come. We will not allow this to become the world of ignorance that you all hope for. Love and honour will prevail and your dark deeds will be dissolved by the light of Truth and Love.

I do not support this proposal. Rather than significantly weakening protections for species at risk, this government should be safeguarding biodiversity, respecting Indigenous rights and ensuring local communities benefit from the ecosystem services that nature freely provides.

Removing protections for these at-risk species in the name of economic benefits will result in catastrophic biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse. These protections and species listing processes are in place for many reasons that are backed by decades of scientific research and evidence.

This is a negligent decision that imparts the responsibility of environmental conservation into the hands of the interested parties. Implementing a permit process that can be mishandled opens the opportunity for the protection of the environment to be subjective and monetarily based.

We need to PROTECT OUR WILDLIFE. Only harm comes from Bill 5. How can we be so careless as to remove these animals without properly consulting with conservationist? There are 106 endangered species that are at risk of becoming extinct if we do not act and protect them.

there is no amount of money that can bring back an ecosystem once its destroyed, losing some of the endangered species on this list will result im the collapse of many key ecosystems in Ontario.

Ontarians have invested a significant amount of time and money into the recovery of species at risk through actions such as volunteer programs, field work, and land conservation initiatives. It is clear that these 106 species at risk are a part of our provincial identity.
