I am very unimpressed by the plan to severely diminish the structure of our conservation authorities. This will severely weaken local knowledge and governance and weaken them so the give less resistance to government meddling to promote development and destruction of our natural habitat.

Ontario’s conservation authorities should NOT be merged. They provide vital and local expertise and are very efficient as they are. Mergers are expensive - use the money instead to give the conservation authorities more tools to do their jobs even better and in alignment with each other. Read more

I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. Concentrating decision making will lead to loss of local voices- without any clear evidence of benefit. Read more

I oppose the merger of conservation authorities. My experience as a naturalist and one who has given land to conserve is that the authroities are well suited for the aims of caring for the land and working with the population of their region. Read more

I fully agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. Given the predatory actions of the current government with regard to zoning and land-use, I am extremely concerned about losing local decision-making. Thus I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. Read more

I think it is long overdue. We need to dismantle the UTRCA, they slow down development and their requirements are extremely excessive and often stretch beyond their jurisdiction and mandate. Having a larger conservation authority will reduce waste and provide consistency for developers. Read more
