Local governance meets the needs of local conservation areas. The HCA is a well respected, well run organization attuned to the area around the western end of Lake Ontario. As such, I believe that the present model is satisfactory, with no need for sweeping changes.
I am strongly opposed to the amalgamation of Conservation Authorities that would combine the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority with several CA's1,000 +km away in Southern Ontario.

This is a terrible idea. There is nothing wrong with the system right now as it works. Each area has its own specific needs in terms of conservation, and you cannot run that from one central office.

I strongly disagree with the re-distribution of the conservation authorities. The local experience and knowledge is essential and needs to be administered regionally, not on a provincial scale. The funding is local, with a very small provincial contribution.

This proposal is wrong on so many levels. The system of Conservation Authorities in Ontario is recognized globally as the right and effective solution to local action, on a watershed basis, to local watershed challenges.

The proposed changes will erode accountability and local services, impose significant costs on taxpayers, and cause delays for landowners, builder and developers.

I object to the Ontario government's proposal to consolidate 36 Conservation Authorities into just seven. The cost of reducing administration expenses will lessen oversight and protection of vast areas of wetlands and lakes which account for our precious and natural fresh water.

I do not agree with putting the Lakehead Regional Conservatory in with the Lake Huron Conservancy. The distance between them is too large to be able to properly manage them.
Like thousands of other Hamiltonians, I love the Dundas Valley and trust the Hamilton Conservation Authority to provide the local expertise and invested leadership to properly protect and serve the common good of this provincial jewel.
