This seems to be a pointless, expensive and poorly thought out proposal and just another way for the Ford government to further the interests of their developer friends Specifically: The Province has not provided evidence showing why the merger is needed. Read more

Local governance meets the needs of local conservation areas. The HCA is a well respected, well run organization attuned to the area around the western end of Lake Ontario. As such, I believe that the present model is satisfactory, with no need for sweeping changes.

I concur with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. I value our conservation areas and frequently use them. Read more

This is a terrible idea. There is nothing wrong with the system right now as it works. Each area has its own specific needs in terms of conservation, and you cannot run that from one central office. Terrible idea. Stupid idea. Leave the conservation areas alone. Read more

I whole heartedly oppose this appalling proposal put forth by the Conservative Government of Ontario for all the reasons outlined over the months, in the Hamilton Spectator. Mac Christie's piece in the Spectator Dec 17th was particularly well said and urgent. Read more

I strongly disagree with the re-distribution of the conservation authorities. The local experience and knowledge is essential and needs to be administered regionally, not on a provincial scale. The funding is local, with a very small provincial contribution. Read more

This proposal is wrong on so many levels. The system of Conservation Authorities in Ontario is recognized globally as the right and effective solution to local action, on a watershed basis, to local watershed challenges. Read more

I, strongly oppose the proposed boundaries for the regional consolidation of Ontario’s Conservation Authorities. The proposed changes will erode accountability and local services, impose significant costs on taxpayers, and cause delays for landowners, builder and developers. Read more

I object to the Ontario government's proposal to consolidate 36 Conservation Authorities into just seven. The cost of reducing administration expenses will lessen oversight and protection of vast areas of wetlands and lakes which account for our precious and natural fresh water. Read more
