As a northern resident, I dont see how combining my local conservation authority with others 10+ hours away would increase my quality of life or the effectiveness of said conservation authority. Why would sensitive watershed management ever be amalgamated to such a grand scale?

I agree with Hamilton Conservation Authority’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. I also do not see the benefit of a merger, when gaps can be meaningful addressed in other ways.

Merging regional conservation authorities is both irresponsible and short sighted. The RCAs are intimately acquainted with regional challenges and deeply integrated into community emergency plans.
