The below provisions of Bill 4 are ludicrous. First they are undemocratic and smacks of dictatorial tendencies. Secondly they are not legal and will be over turned in short order.

Issues:
- The Bill disallows and dismisses all legal challenge to the Bill, and prevents all legal recourse that may be taken by anyone, including those whose legal contracts were cancelled.

Although your government did not agree with the methods of Cap and Trade, it seemed to be working with regard to instilling a greater willingness on the part of Ontarians to look for more anti-pollution methods and choices. I, myself, was able to afford a plug-in hybrid car.

I urge the government to either reconsider the cancellation of the cap and trade program, or to create a viable and robust replacement program as soon as possible.

Firstly, I sincerely hope that this government recognizes the fact that global warming and climate change are real. The effect of global warming on climate and ultimately on human lives can be devastating. We must act expeditiously before it becomes irreversible and too late to act.

What is the cost of taking pollution out of the air? The oil indusrty has been subsidized for a hundred years by being given no carbon tax. The pollution comes at an environmental cost which should be paid.

Hon. R. Phillips,

The rebate program for purchasing and keeping an Electronic Vehicle played a huge role in our vehicle purchase. Without it, we would have maybe purchased one in 5 to 10 years, with a 100 km daily commute, out work only driving habits would have continued to contribute to vehicle pollution.

The only market-based way to reduce greenhouse gases is a price on carbon, either a direct tax or a cap-and-trade system. In both cases, the government can return the income from these to the people, so it is not a “tax grab”.

This is a short-sighted Act. It leaves Ontario decades behind other jurisdictions in terms of Climate Change Mitigation strategies. Furthermore the proposed Act has NO strategy to replace the repealed one!

We need help, in halting this looming danger of destroying the natural fauna of our planet. Climate threat is real and immediate action is required from all of us.

Please withdraw this bill. Climate change IS real, and burying your head in the sand will not make it go away. The Cap and Trade system has been effective and should be continued at least until your government determines a proven better method to reduce emissions.

Energy is a necessary expense.
Energy production is more or less expensive depending on the source.
Energy use is more or less expensive depending on the impact of its use on the environment.
Some effects of energy consumption are irreversible.

t is frustrating to see the most progressive province in Canada abdicate its role as a leader in the quest to develop a carbon free world essential for the survival of humanity as we know it.
