Our recent search for a rural property with acreage and hopefully a stream has made us aware of what appears to be overreach by conservation authorities related to 'watersheds'. I have had nothing but horrible experiences with my local conservation authority. Specifically entering my property unlawfully, bully tactics, lies, manipulation of the Conservation Authority Act and harassment. Read more

The provincial policy statement has not been updated and each Conservation Authority may have different needs based on population and flood risk. As some policies are being changed the definition of wetlands is critical. Read more

Updating definitions is good . Please use PPS definitions. Exempt all person made things like drains and ponds from regulation by CAs. The provision to require CAs to notify landowners of changes to their lands and that no designation be final until all appeals have been completed.

I believe that a Review Board that is not independent of the Authority that they are to govern, defeats the purpose of such a Board. It is being proposed that the duty of conservation authority board members is to act in the best interest of the conservation authority. Read more

In an area that I have been studying and hundreds of residents live, I find it alarming that no one there realize that the Conservation Authorities projections in an extreme flood event would find themselves at great risk of loss of life unless they had recently found themselves in need of a permit.
