I strongly oppose the lands that are proposed to be removed from the Greenbelt in the City of Pickering. Removing this protected countryside totally defeats the purpose of the greenbelt legislation, and the surround road network is not suitable for any future proposed developments.

Trading any lane in the Oak Ridges moraine for more suburban sprawl is such a mistake. The ecosystem of the moraine is so fragile and important and must be protected. This chipping away at it is going to affect the ecosystem throughout Ontario and it’s shameful this government is trying to do this.

The Greenbelt is sacred. This is clear corruption by Ford. Corruption and Greed. This isn't about housing this is about profit for developers. This is the most sinister yet predictable move yet by this government. Evil greed. It's absolutely disgusting. Read more

*NO!* This is short term, self-interested, backwards thinking. We need to protect our precious contiguous greenspace and environmentally sensitive lands. The reality is 50,000 houses isn't going to solve the housing crisis, but WILL irreversably degrade our environment. Read more

Ignoring that Ford backtracked on a promise, ignoring that this sets precedents for other developments, this is major back step in protection of Ontario’s environment, its species, its watershed, its water quality. We should be adding more land WITHOUT removing any. Read more

Don't do this. The Greenbelt is protecting some of our most sensitive natural areas. This would be a shortsighted and idiotic thing to do decades ago, but with the overwhelming evidence now of the climate crisis we are in the middle of, this amendment would be willingly negligent. Read more

The proposed amendments to allow for the swapping out of land in the Greenbelt would cause irreparable harm to the environment. The removal of currently protected natural areas will have disastrous consequences for which the addition of new areas will be of little or no comfort. Read more
