Utterly disgraceful, disgusting and corrupt. All of the provincially significant wetlands and habitats, and the greenbelt, were preserved for important environmental reasons - hence the term "significant". This did not occur without numerous consultations and scientific research.

Removing lands from the Greenbelt for housing development seems to go against the very reasons for this protection. We must protect our farmland and integrity of natural systems. Greenfield development makes irreparable impact and loss to these assets.

As a resident of Ontario I strongly oppose this change to the greenbelt plan, it goes against the interest of Ontarians and would be highly detrimental.

This is a terrible plan that will only allow mega mansion, cookie cutter, suburb sprawl. The greenbelt should be protected not chop blocked into unaffordable, boring, super rich neighbourhoods isolated from society.
1. This proposal violates UNDRIP - see Articles 24-29 among others. The Indigenous Peoples of these areas have the right to meaningful consultation prior to any development.

The Greenbelt was created to restrict urban sprawl and prevent overdevelopment of the Greater Golden Horseshoe into all of the natural areas surrounding it. The proposal by the current government to carve away chunks of the Greenbelt to open them for development is short sighted and unethical.

Build upwards, not outwards. Simple. The destruction of farmland and natural areas needs to stop. We can’t keep sprawling, it’s just not working. We need to make our existing infrastructure work better.

This plan is a known and foreseeable ecological disaster that uses irreplaceable GREENBELT lands essential to the ecology of Ontario to (unnecessarily) create building lots for homes. This will not address the current housing shortages.
