This is a hard 'no' for Ontario's residents and taxpayers. We do not want to exploit protected land for building high cost sprawl, that must be serviced by auto-dependent lifestyles. This land was set aside for protection for a reason.

We are in the middle of a climate crisis. We can't continue to destroy our natural habitats for short term gains. We need to think long term for more sustainable solutions to housing needs. Don't destroy our green belt.
I'm deeply concerned, and frankly outraged, at this attempt to remove greenbelt land for the sake of development, when we have evidence that there is enough land already available (see attached "Report of the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force").

I am happy that the provincial government is concerned about the lack of affordable housing for Ontarians. However, Bill 23 has failed to act decisively to ensure affordable homes will be built where they are needed inside existing cities.

The proposed changes to the Greenbelt area are the beginning of the encroachment of development into this sensitive ecosystem. The development of housing will continue once this initial stage is approved.

Bill 23 should be rescinded in its entirety. The protected Greenbelt needs to be protected in perpetuity to ensure our water sources are not compromised. Our Agricultural areas need to be protected to endure Ontarians have the ability to produce our own, close to home food.
