I do feel that 21 days is too long but I do feel 7 is too short based on unexpected wind/weather conditions making it unsafe to move. I would think 10 to 14 days would be more appropriate and give time to relax and then move within a weather window.

Good Afternoon If I read the posting correctly, this link was been updated on March 16th 2023 to NOT permit floating accommodations to utilize public lands. I trust this is correct. The wording on the notice is not clear. You may wish to double check the language of the update. Read more

I don't believe that floating accommodations should be allowed on our waterways. I would be outraged if someone parked a barge in front of my cottage that I pay property taxes on.

I have a small island with a small cottage in Bay of Islands. Over the past few years, someone with a camper on a barge has been camping for 21 days on Wells Island, which is "Crown Land". After they left, I went to Wells Island and found a 50 gal. Read more

I feel that the floating homes should be banned - period. There is no need for " camping on water" that can not be fulfilled by existing land based camping sites or commercial land based accommodations.

As a community member of the Bay of Islands I am concerned with the increase of barges with campers in the area. I am concerned with damaging the water quality and the local environment. Thank you

Floating accommodations definitely shouldn’t be allowed because they aren’t paying taxes, they’re harmful to the environment and they’re clogging up the waterways for other people to enjoy! There needs that be an immediate stop to this before it gets out of control. Read more

I think it very important to limit use of public waterways for floating accommodations. This is not be consider dissimilar to parking a motorhome in a public park or a public roadway.
