Adding hunting to MacGregor Point Park and other protected areas is not consistent with having a safe haven for wildlife. Parks should be a sanctuary for everyone, not just a recreational area for humans. Sport hunting should not be allowed in any park or conservation area.

The expanding protected areas proposal is fine as far as it goes. However, this barely moves the needle in terms of Canada's commitment to protect 30% of its lands and waters by 2030 as a party to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. Read more

I think this is a fantastic proposal that will be greatly appreciated by the people of Ontario. It seems that many of these lands have been waiting for official protection and it is an act of tying loose ends. Read more

This proposal to increase conservation lands across the province is a step in the right direction. Existing protected areas are often disjunct, disconnected, and are not big enough to sustain wildlife and rare ecosystems in the face of increased development and climate change. Read more

Provincial parks should be a safe place for animals and plants to grow and live safley. Allowing hunting regardless of how sustainable you intend to make it, defeats this purpose. There is a plethora of crown land available for hunting in ontario and provincial parks do not need to allow it. Read more

Hello, I am a long time resident of the Bass Lake area. I have no concerns whether the proposed area becomes park or not. I first hunted these properties 38 years ago and have since. I have watched the road through the swamp be swallowed and disappear as the land cares for itself. Read more

I want to support the expansion of Bass Lake Provincial Park as the wetland to be included is a sensitive area and locally significant. The area includes several species of orchids, other wetland plant, mosses, lichens and liverworts. At present, it is largely undisturbed. Read more

I am delighted with this proposal. Everything we can do to protect and enhance our natural world will benefit all Ontarians. I am also pleased with the timing, as the planetary crisis is upon us and mitigation efforts, such as expanding parks, are vital and urgent.

This is wonderful news. It is important that future generations are able to enjoy and recharge in nature. It is imperative that First Nations land is not taken over for this initiative however The crown and church have caused enough damage to these communities already Best of luck Read more
