I think it's clear why this is proposed if you think about who directly benefits. Who benefits from deregulation? Companies, real estate developers, investors. The same people who donates to PCC and the current leaders in the Ontario government. Read more

I oppose Bill 5 because it's deregulation will harm at-risk wildlife species. The bill would allow politicians to make decisions without environmental impact assessment or respect for Indigenous Peoples' human rights including self-determination through free, prior, and informed consent. Read more

The Species Conservation Act should not be changed to make it “faster” to obtain permits - there is good reason it takes time to do due diligence when ensuring what consequences any proposed development will have on endangered wildlife. Read more

We have protection laws and regulations for a reason. Because they are IMPORTANT ! The government should be upholding these laws rather than ignoring them to suit their own agenda, usually greed ! These changes can not be allowed to happen.

Protecting the environment in Ontario should be our number one priority. If we fast track approvals at the expense of potentially protected lands, then we'd regret it after the fact. The change proposed is not a good idea for us or the future of our children. Please reconsider.
