I am writing this comment on Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025, to communicate my concerns about the proposed Act as an Ontario citizen. I believe that if Bill 5 passes, it will substantially weaken protections for Ontario’s species. Read more

This bill is outrageous and I DO NOT support it. Endangering already endangered species to build a highway no reasonable assessor has deemed necessary or helpful is absurd. And mining protected landscapes is nonsense. Stop trying to “solve problems” by creating more problems.

While the Endangered Species Act in its current form can be difficult for industry, the new Species Conservation Act is nonsense. It will not conserve species in any meaningful way. I am deeply concerned about the precedent that it sets for science to be optimal when setting environmental policy. Read more

I live outside the GTA, in an area prized for its natural diversity. As such, I strongly oppose Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act. This legislation poses a serious threat to Ontario’s natural heritage, democratic processes and Indigenous rights. Read more
