I oppose bill 5. I oppose short cuts for industry with no public oversight. I want stronger environmental and endangered species protections. I oppose overwriting the law in special economic zones. Read more

No. Just no. Stop destroying the environment and crucial ecosystems for development. We should be strengthening any environmental and species protections, not reversing them. Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 5 and the proposed changes to the endangered species act. I oppose these exceptions and 'special' zones that prioritize short term economics over sustainable land use, and disregard protection of our native wildlife and nature. Read more

Please preserve the endangered species act. Don’t let development interfere with our precious wildlife and habitats that us humans have already destroyed. You know better. Please do better.

The definition of "habitat" being proposed in these amendments is too narrow. The existing definition of habitat can be refined without resorting to such a narrow definition that provides no meaningful protection for species at risk. As an Ontario resident, I do not support these changes.

So reading between the lines when looking at this in conjunction with Bill 5, Ontario is trying to push this as a good thing to protect animals, but really, it makes it easier for developers

Ontarians have not asked for weaker protections or less say in decisions that affect the province’s land, water and future. Bill 5 would silence community voices, marginalize science and erase decades of hard-won environmental progress. Read more

This is ridiculous. I support many in Ontario with concerns about this potential change and harm to our ecosystem. Shame on the Ford government for putting our environment and the animals at risk for gains. Please force appropriate transparency and consultation. Read more

Stop Bill 5! Stop further destruction to animal habitats, to clean water, and to Indigenous rights—all in the name of “progress”. Another word for that is greed. Ford thinks he works for big developers; well, he doesn’t! Read more

While economic development within our province is important, so is safe guarding the unique and globally rare ecosystems and species that call Ontario home. These timely steps are in place to ensure adequate thought and consideration of the effects that development has on Ontario’s flora and fauna. Read more

This is blatantly corrupt. Will threaten the survival of many endangered species. And will irreversibly damage priceless archeological artifacts in the area. Not to mention the blatant disregard for indigenous lands and the disrespect for our First Nations people's. Strike this bill down right now!

I am outraged by Bill 5 and the blatant disregard it shows for Ontario’s most vulnerable wildlife and natural heritage. This bill is not just a step backward-it’s a full-scale assault on the very laws that protect our endangered species from extinction. Read more
