While we need to improve the lengthy timelines for permitting in Ontario, simply eliminating all oversight is not the answer. Endangered species and Ontario’s future environment need more protections than this law provides.

I am against Bill 5. I believe that Ontario needs better environmental protection, not worse. The climate crisis is worsening and some of the damage, such as species extinction, will be irreparable, no matter how well our economy is doing. Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 5. We need stronger environmental protection for endangered species and in fact all species. I’m particularly concerned about the turtle ponds. We are already building homes in areas leaving the coyotes with no place to go. I have deer walking behind my home near a ravine. Read more

Myself, and many like me, believe changing the endangered species act will be counterintuitive and end up doing exactly what it should be stopping. By lifting restrictions, the provincial government will have the ability to construct on conservation land, and native land. Read more
