I oppose this bill. These changes to the endangered species act are not reasonable or balanced changes, and would only serve to let industry and large corporations ignore their responsibility to protect the environment in favour of speedy profit.
The drafters of this bill are making claims which are not based in knowledge. The environtment needs protection. Developers do not. It is WRONG to undo environmental protections that were put in place after due consideration.
One of the things which makes Canada so amazing is our willingness to protect wildlife and natural spaces for the benefit of all. Threatening endangered species is disgraceful to the years Canada has spent to protect endangered wildlife.

Bill 5 shouldn't even be a consideration. It puts far too much at risk. There are ways to do things more efficiently than the current process without leaving so much room for greed, recklessness and irreversible error. It's astonishing that this bill is even being pitched.

I'm strongly against this bill. For centuries we have protected species for future generations. How would you feel if humans had no protection. We would all be extinct by now. I think that this bill is ludicrous.
As a Canadian who has resided in multiple different provinces and different countries, I have seen different levels of species protection across the board.
