Ontarians have not asked for weaker protections or less say in decisions that affect the province’s land, water and future. Bill 5 would silence community voices, marginalize science and erase decades of hard-won environmental progress.

Instead of allowing the development of otherwise green spaces to be done prior to permit approval, why not hire more staff so that permits can be approved with lower service standards thereby allowing the applicant to work sooner while protecting the environment? Read more

I oppose Bill 5. I do not support the proposed changes. We need stronger environmental protections in place. Bill 5 is harmful. We need to protect endangered species. I oppose short cuts for industry with no public oversight and also oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.

I am writing to express my deep opposition to Bill 5. This move is not only short-sighted, but dangerous — both to Ontario’s biodiversity and to the long-term health, justice, and environmental stability of our province. Read more

I am writing to strongly oppose Bill 5: the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act and its dangerous proposals, including the creation of Special Economic Zones, the weakening of Ontario’s endangered species protections, and the exemption of the Eagle’s Nest mine from an environmental review. I am appalled at this latest attempt by the Ford government to circumvent regulations protecting species and their habitat. This proposal is short-sighted and rooted in greed. Ford just wants to remove roadblocks for his billionaire buddies through the creation of 'special economic zones'. Read more

I am writing to voice my opposition to the proposed changes to the endangered species act. The importance of this act, the reason it was brought forward, was to ensure ecosystems were not destroyed for the sack of vanity projects. Read more

The amendments proposed under Bill 5, including amendments to this Act, must be halted. Bill 5 would allow the government to sidestep essential environmental protections, workers’ rights and meaningful consultation with local communities and indigenous nations. Read more

I do not support this bill as it destroys our environment and also breaks our relationship with the indigenous people. Our world is already in a climate crisis and passing this bill will further affect the natural world with killing animals species. Read more

A proposal and a shared thought: I think you are missing an opportunity to be a hero and a trailblazer. There are so many derelict contaminated old industrial sites that could be cleaned up and developed rather than eating into our precious forests, farms and greenbelt. Read more
